Strengthening those Mommy muscles!

Here is my ideal morning schedule every day:

6:00-feed my baby, put her back to sleep

6:15-Tap into any kind of motivation so I don't get back into bed and get work out clothes on

6:17-Scripture study

6:30- EXCERCISE!

7:00-shower get ready

7:30-Kids are up, it's go time!

Sounds perfect right? Usually this happens about 3/7 days in the week...which in my book I am counting that as a win...here is what ACTUALLY happens the other days:

6:00-feed my baby with my eyes closed still half asleep

6:15- cuddle right back up in bed

7:30-wake up to my two year old calling out to me because he has to go poop

7:35-ready to go back to bed

As great as it is to get that extra hour of sleep I still get a little disappointed that I didn't start my day off moving my body and taking a bit of time for myself. I will still try to fit a workout in with my kids awake, which doesn't always turn out as effective as I would like...#goatyoga

Not saying this completely replaces that half an hour of kid free working out BUT if I do miss out on that morning work out to myself and have to workout with my kids this is a fun go to workout that really does work. me. out!! Arm dancing! Yep, sounds weird right? Well, it kinda is, BUT your arms will definitely be sore afterwards AND your kids will think you are so fun and cool after you do this with them. So here is what you do...

1. Get a few fun upbeat songs that you and your child like to listen to. Here are some of my go to songs.

* Better When I'm Dancing, Meghan Trainor

* Shake it Off, Nick Kroll & Reese Witherspoon

* I'm Still Standing, Taron Egerton

* Abc, Jackson 5

* Can't Stop the Feeling, Justin Timberlake

* The Greatest Show, Hugh Jackman

* Try Everything, Shakira

* Best Day of My Life, American Authors

2. Turn up the music and extend your arms out. Move them in any way shape or form you would like to the beat. Now the trick is you can not let your arms drop the whole entire song. If you are anything like me they will start burning about a minute in to the song.

3. You don't have to JUST work out your arms. I will sometimes switch it up and just set up a playlist for my toddler and I to "dance" to. First song I will do my arms, Second song we lay down and just dance with our legs in the air...(6 pack here I come)! Third song I will do a plank the whole time. If it's a really long song I will go down on my forearms for the chorus and up on my hands for the verses. Fourth song I will just go crazy and dance with my kids. I will then repeat the same order with the next four songs.

My son and I seriously laugh throughout most of the workout. He thinks my arm dancing is pretty hilarious and he may or may not play horse as I am doing my plank but hey...they call them Mommy muscles for a reason right?!
